Terms of service

Last updated October 31, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Ben Longrie, doing business as Alpaca Agent ("Alpaca," "we," "us"). You agree to them when you tick the box while creating an account, and by using Alpaca. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

What Alpaca is

Alpaca is software that answers customers' text messages for a service business, using your business information and instructions, and that can book appointments on a calendar you connect. It is a tool to help you. You stay responsible for your business.

Who can use it

You must be at least 18 years old and have the authority to sign up on behalf of your business. Keep your sign-in details private. You are responsible for what happens under your account.

Price and cancelling

  • Alpaca costs $349 per month. It renews each month until you cancel.
  • You can cancel anytime. You keep access until the end of the month you've already paid for, then the service stops and is not charged again.
  • We don't refund part of a month you have already paid for, unless the law requires it. The refund policy lists when we do refund.
  • Prices are in US dollars. Billing is not switched on yet, so nothing is charged until we tell you it starts.
  • Phone carriers, texting costs and registration fees charged by third parties may be passed on to you. We will tell you before charging anything beyond the monthly price.
  • We may change the price with at least 30 days' notice. The new price applies from your next billing month, and you can cancel before then.

Your information and instructions

You are responsible for the accuracy of what you give Alpaca: prices, services, hours, service area, and any rules for how it should speak or what it may book. Alpaca follows those instructions, so please keep them current. You keep ownership of your business information and your customers' information. You give us permission to process it only to provide and support the service, as described in our privacy policy.

Texting rules you agree to follow

  • Alpaca replies to messages customers send to your business number. Use it only to communicate with people who contacted you or who have given you permission.
  • Follow the laws and carrier rules that apply to text messaging, including customers' right to stop. Alpaca honors STOP automatically; you must not work around it.
  • Don't use Alpaca for spam, harassment, scams, anything illegal, or anything that harms other people.
  • Your business number must be approved by the phone carriers before it can send messages. Approval is decided by them, takes days to weeks, and can be refused. We can't guarantee approval or its timing.

AI can make mistakes

Alpaca uses artificial intelligence. It can misunderstand a customer, misread an address, or give a wrong answer. We build in checks, and Alpaca is designed to hand off to you when unsure, but we can't promise it will always be right. Look at your dashboard and bookings regularly, and use the pause switch whenever you want to handle messages yourself. Alpaca is not for emergencies and does not give legal, medical or financial advice.

Third-party services

Alpaca depends on services from other companies, such as text messaging, calendars, AI and hosting. If one of them has an outage or changes its rules, Alpaca may be limited or unavailable. We are not responsible for those companies' services.

Availability

We work to keep Alpaca running, but it is provided without a promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may update, change or pause features, and we will try to give notice of changes that matter.

Ending the service

You can stop at any time as described above, and you can delete your account yourself from the signed-in pages. We may suspend or end your account if you break these terms, if your use puts others or the service at risk, or if payment fails and isn't fixed after notice. When an account ends, you can ask us to delete your data, as described in the privacy policy. What happens to your calendar bookings, your access, your phone number and your information when you cancel is explained under "If you cancel" in our privacy policy.

Our responsibility is limited

Alpaca is provided "as is." To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not responsible for lost profits, lost jobs, missed or wrong bookings, or other indirect or consequential losses, and our total responsibility for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim arose. Some places don't allow these limits, so they apply only as far as your local law permits. Nothing here limits responsibility that the law doesn't allow us to limit.

Your responsibility

You agree to cover claims, losses and costs that come from your breaking these terms, from your instructions to Alpaca, or from your texting of people without the right to do so.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will update the date above and tell account holders by email or on the site. If you keep using Alpaca after a change takes effect, you accept it. If you don't, you can cancel.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Colorado, unless the law requires otherwise.
